Was wondering about some folks thoughts on the standard "Should I get out" Question. I have 8 yrs in and want to go to business school, but the Army is balking on paying for it since its costly. For quite a few personal & professional reasons, I am thinking its best to get out and go to school full time so that my MBA can really pay off for me and inject me into the Corp world where I want to be. My biggest concern is that while in grad school, my wife and son will be eating Ramen noodles and Franks-N-Beans every night since I wont have that Army paycheck coming in. Are student loans really enough to live on when you have school, plus other bills? Is it worth it? Any thoughts? Thx,

If I were you, I would get out, get a Corporate position now and get tuition reimbursement from my company for my graduate degree. Many companies offer that option and it's worth looking into.
Good luck!

So many have done it, I'm sure you'll get good responses. I know a memeber of 2001 who is headed to Michigan for his MBA in July I don't think he'll mind sharing his experience. He is Cpt Angelo Adams.

You may of course do like I and many others and simply join a corporation when you get out that will eagerly and willingly pay for all of your schooling.
One of my classmates went the school first rout and ended up graduating from Wharton after 5 years in the service, the same time I exited after eight years in. His base at his first civilian job was the same as mine, but his bonuses were a hell of a lot bigger. Of course, he had his MBA, and was heading to Wall Street, wheras I heade to GM, knowing they would pay for my MBA. The first question is who makes out better in compensation at the end of this decision? My gues sprobably Curt (who was one year after me at USMA). I'm guessing my day to day stress was and is a lot less.
Hope that helps.
