The Association of Graduates (AOG) provides a valuable service in promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy and the Long Gray Line. To enable the AOG to fulfill this purpose effectively and responsibly, I encourage all graduates to participate in the selection of the elected directors who represent us on the Association's Board of Directors. The election for AOG directors and advisors began today, 28 October 2005.
This is the first election in our alumni history where we have a choice among candidates seeking a three-year term. The task before our graduates is an actual decision that involves a selection of directors for three-year terms. Please fulfill your important role in the electoral process by voting.
Historically, as graduates, we relied on the discretion of an AOG nominating committee to select and recommend an appropriate slate to the Board for approval, and then this slate went to graduates for confirmation. This year is different. The era of the status quo is over. The significant participation in the recent petition process demonstrated that graduates want choice in the selection of our alumni’s volunteer leadership
