Our Client is committed to recruiting an experienced procurement executive who is never satisfied with the “status quo” and possesses the tenacity to continuously improve. This will require a skilled business partner, as well as a creative, flexible and confident negotiator who can balance issues critical to the corporation and the other operating divisions while dealing fairly with suppliers.
We seek a skilled global sourcing professional who can immediately influence the organization and add value. Although the Procurement organization has historically performed well, the Company firmly believes that integration of state-of-the-art procurement processes and tools will increase the “bottom line impact”. Obviously, the ongoing success of the company and the other operating divisions is highly dependent upon their ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with the world’s leading suppliers. The organizational finesse, cultural astuteness and negotiation skills of the Director, Strategic Sourcing will heavily influence the Division’s bottom line results.
Key capabilities and areas of influence will encompass the following:
· Creating partnerships with preferred vendors to ensure long-term availability of critical materials and services at a competitive cost advantage.
· Implementing programs with strategic suppliers that minimize the balance sheet investment in inventories.
· Establishing redundancies within the supplier network and internal systems that ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials regardless of weather, uncertainties within the countries of international suppliers and market conditions.
· Building working relationships with key peers throughout the Corporation and with key suppliers.
More specifically, the following business, academic and personal profile has been developed and will be utilized as our screening/evaluation guideline.
Fifteen plus years of experience gained within companies with sophisticated strategic sourcing systems and processes.
A strong familiarity with material acquisition issues associated with commodity materials: price volatility, demand curves, logistics/transportation, availability fluctuations, etc.
The management philosophy of someone who understands the importance of keeping all members of the organization involved and seeking their input. Also, this individual must possess the ability to generate changes, new approaches, cost reductions, improve quality, etc.
Broad supply chain management skills are essential and should encompass: strategic sourcing, MRP/ERP interface, supplier relations, supplier Q.A., cost & inventory reduction programs
inventory control, contract negotiations, demand forecasting
Solid understanding of the financial implications of supply chain management upon the Division’s ongoing financial strength. This is including, but not limited to the impact of:
price variances
inventory levels upon the balance sheet
the total cost of acquisition upon the P&L
cost trade-offs; cost reduction
A strong working knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, warehouse management and “web enabled” systems and their interaction with the procurement function.
